Regular Season Round 13: Al Sadd - Al Arabi 87-98

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#2) and Al Sadd (#5). Al Sadd was defeated at home 87-98 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Al Sadd. Al Arabi had a 42-30 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: UConn) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. The former international swingman Khalid Suliman Abdi (198-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and Greek swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 26 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Al Arabi and four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Al Sadd's coach Vassilis Bratsiakos rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Al Arabi (10-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place behind leader Al Gharafa. Al Sadd at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost.
