Regular Season Round 8: Qatar Club - Al Sadd 61-89
Date: December 30, 2020
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#5) and Qatar Club (#6). Qatar Club was smashed at home by 28 points 61-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Sadd outrebounded Qatar Club 50-29 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 21 rebounds. International forward Babacar Dieng (197-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Baden Jaxen (191-90, college: UNC) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Sadd maintains fifth position with 4-3 record. Qatar Club at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
