Regular Season Round 25: Tianjin - Sichuan BW 112-110

A very close game took place in Tianjin between Pioneers and Blue Whales. Eighteenth ranked Pioneers (5-19) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Blue Whales (11-11). Pioneers managed to escape with a 2-point win 112-110 on Monday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Pioneers made 38-of-50 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Blue Whales turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Montenegrin forward Marko Todorovic (210-92) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and Jin Xin (196-95) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) added 25 points, 10 assists and 4 steals respectively for Blue Whales in the defeat. Four Pioneers and five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pioneers moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Nanjing TX MK. Blue Whales at the other side keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Pioneers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Blue Whales will play against Flying Tigers (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
