Marcel Jones
32-year old forward Marcel Jones (203-F-85) had a great game in the last round for Al-Riffa and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had a double-double of 40 points and 22 rebounds, while his team edged out Al-Nweidrat (#5, 12-6) 86-84. Al-Riffa is placed at 7th position in Bahrain league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al-Riffa will need more victories to improve their 10-8 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 65.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al-Riffa's top player in his first season with the team. Oregon State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 32.6ppg. Jones is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 16.2rpg) and averages solid 2.1spg and 60.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Merrill Holden (203-F-93, agency: SDJ Sports) of Al-Bahrain. He is American forward in his first season at Al-Bahrain. In the last game Holden recorded impressive double-double of 36 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he led Al-Bahrain to another comfortable win outscoring Samaheej (#13, 0-18) 103-72. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Al-Bahrain keeps 9th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-12 record. Holden is a newcomer at Al-Bahrain and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.8ppg (#2). He also registered 15.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Mile Ilic (215-C-84) of Al-Nweidrat (#5). Ilic scored 29 points and grabbed twenty one rebounds (!!!). Despite Ilic's great performance Al-Nweidrat lost 84-86 to slightly lower-ranked Al-Riffa (#7, 10-8). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Al-Nweidrat needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 6 lost games. Ilic has a great season in Bahrain. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.3ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 15.9rpg (4th best). He also has 2.4bpg and FGP: 58.9%.
