Marcel Jones
Experienced American-New Zealand Marcel Jones (203-F-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Al-Riffa and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 32-year old forward had a double-double of 33 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team outclassed Isa Town (#11, 2-8) with 42-point margin 91-49. Al-Riffa is placed at 6th position in Bahrain Premier League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al-Riffa will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Jones turned to be Al-Riffa's top player in his first season with the team. Oregon State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 31.3ppg. Jones is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 16.0rpg) and averages solid 1.3bpg and 61.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was -year old Nooraldeen Mohamed of Hidd. Mohamed impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 26 rebounds. Of course Hidd cruised to a 84-72 relatively comfortable win over Samaheej (#13, 0-11). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Hidd keeps 12th position. 10 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Hidd managed to get this year. Mohamed is a newcomer at Hidd and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Haminn Quaintance (203-F-85) of Al-Najma (#7). Quaintance showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, twenty six rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al-Najma, leading his team to a 78-61 easy win against the higher-ranked Al-Muharraq (#4, 8-2). Al-Najma needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 5 lost games. Quaintance has a very solid season. In 10 games in Bahrain he scored 20.4ppg. He also has 18.4rpg, 4.6apg, 2.5spg, 1.8bpg and FGP: 60.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Wayne Chism (206-PF-87) of Al-Manama - 23 points and 14 rebounds
5. Hussain Lulu) of Hidd - 29 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Merrill Holden (203-F-93) of Al-Bahrain - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Mile Ilic (215-C-84) of Al-Nweidrat - 17 points, 19 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Ali Jaffar) of Al-Hala - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Ahmed Jamal (87) of Al-Hala - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Kenny Williams (201-F-86) of Sitra - 16 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
