Tenth-ranked Sitra (1-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Al Hala (7-1) in Muharraq on Wednesday. Al Hala managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Al Hala have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader Al Manama. Sitra lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Al Hala are looking forward to face Al Najma (#6) in Manama in the next round. Sitra will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Nuwaidrat. Fifth ranked Al Muharraq (5-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Nuwaidrat (5-2) 80-79 in the game for the fourth place. Al Muharraq moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Nuwaidrat. Al Muharraq will play against league's leader Al Manama at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Nuwaidrat will play against Al Ahli in Manama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Manama: Al Ahli (#3) and Al Bahrain (#8). Al Ahli (6-1) won against visiting Al Bahrain (1-6) 73-61. Al Ahli maintains third position with 6-1 record behind leader Al Manama. Al Bahrain lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Al Ahli will meet at home Nuwaidrat (#5) in the next round. Al Bahrain's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manama Samaheej.
Undefeated leader Al Manama delivered the seventh consecutive victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Al Najma (4-4) 90-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Najma. Undefeated Al Manama (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Al Najma at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Al Manama's next round opponent will be Al Muharraq (#4) on the road. Al Najma will play against the league's second-placed Al Hala in Muharraq and hope to win that game.
Bottom-ranked Samaheej (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-68 loss to ninth ranked Al Ittihad (2-5) in Manama on Thursday evening. Al Ittihad moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Issa Town. Samaheej at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Al Ittihad will face Issa Town (#8) at home in the next round. Samaheej will play against Al Bahrain in Manama and hopes to get finally their first victory.
