Loren Woods
Al Hala (Premier League) added to their roster experienced 38-year old Lebanese ex-international center Loren Woods (218-116kg-78, college: Arizona). It is actually his comeback to Al Hala as he has played here before. Woods is a dual citizen owning also American passport. He already started the season at Al Ahli (Premier League).
In 2001 Woods was drafted by Minnesota Timbervolves (NBA) in second round (46th overall). The former University of Arizona staris in his 16th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Woods was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Defensive Player of the Year back in 2013.
He also played at the Arab Club Championships two years ago. Woods' team won Bronze.
He is quite experienced player. Thanks to Woods' pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America) in seven different countries. Woods has played previously professionally in Iran (Zob Ahan and Mahram), Lithuania (Zalgiris), Spain (CAI Zaragoza), Turkey (Anadolu Efes), NBA (Sacramento Kings), Lebanon (Al Riyadi) and D-League (Austin Spurs).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Al Hala.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Very thin upper body, but leaps well, good timing, nice shooting touch, runs floor very well, and works on his game. If he was 30 pounds heavier, he could be a dominant player, but often times it is very hard for players of this size to gain weight. He hasn't played much so far this year and could break out like he did last year. Has had a tough season thus far and when playing against heavier players, he has trouble on offense, getting position.
