Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul (BSL) agreed terms with 28-year old American forward Austin Daye (211-92kg-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Alti Sport). He played last season at Al Manama in Bahrain Premier League. He helped them to make it to the final. Daye also played for VL Pesaro (Serie A) in Italian league that season. In 21 games he was the best scorer with impressive 21.2ppg and averaged 9.0rpg (#2 in the league), 1.9apg, 1.6spg and 1.1bpg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA Import Player of the Year, Forward of the Year and named to 1st Team. He also spent pre-season at the Cavaliers in NBA that year.
The previous (14-15) season Daye played at the Hawks in NBA. In 8 games he had 3.3ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.0apg. The other team Daye played that season for was Erie Bay Hawks in D-League. In 10 games he recorded very remarkable stats: 16.0ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1bpg. Another team Daye played that season for were the Spurs in NBA. In 24 games he recorded 4.0ppg and 2.5rpg.
In 2009 Daye was drafted by Detroit Pistons (NBA) in first round (15th overall). The former Gonzaga University standoutis in his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his college team won WCC Tournament in 2009. Daye was also voted HS Sea View League Player of the Year, CIF-Southern Section Division I Player of the Year and calhisports.com first-team All-State back in 2007.
He has played also professionally in Russia (Khimky), NBA (Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies) and D-League (Austin Spurs).

MANAMA bowed to Al Shabab of the UAE 93-102 last night to close out the group stage in the 37th GCC Clubs Basketball Championships being played in Bahrain.
