Finally the Bahrain basketball season is here, and it will kick off its campaign with a friendly super cup between the top three teams; starting with defending champions league and Cup Champions Muharraq club, runner ups Al Ahli Club and Manama Club. The Games are scheduled to start on Nov 10 between Muharraq and Ahli. The team that wins more games will be crowned Super Champs to kick off the 2012-13 Season.
Muharraq will start of their campaign with virtually the same team, Chester Giles (211-F/C-85, college: Oregon St.) now nationalized Bahraini Player will be their import and they are well coached by Charlie Parker . Local Players Bader Abdulla Malabes (87), Ahmed Derazi and veteran Ahmed Mallallah will complete starting roster.
Al Ahli club will start their season with a much improved roster having added Sharp Shooters Jassim Mohamed and Yasser Bonafur to help their new import Aaron Pettway (211-C-80, college: Oklahoma St.). Coached by a Local Bahraini and also to complete their roster Hussein Sharker, Mohamed Qurban and Maytham Jameel will be returning.
Manama Club will start their campaign with their coach Matthew Skillman , who will have lots to prove having ended the season on a great winning run. Their import is Ex NBA player Dwayne Jones (211-C-83, college: St.Joseph's). Even though they lost two players they still retain the best team on paper with Mahmud Gholum, Mohamed Derazi, Ahmed Aziz and Ahmed Al Mutawa (199-F/C-81, college: Broward CC) to complete their roster.
This season will be one of the bests seasons ever for Bahrain basketball because all the teams are stepping up their games. So come to the Zain Arena in Um al Hassan and cheer for your favorite team.
