Bahrain U18- Philippines U18 72:99

Rodolfo Alejandro (180-G-95) leads Philippines over Bahrain at the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship. The winning side improved to 4-1 record however finished only third in the group. Iran and Taiwan took the top places in Group F with the same records due to the better difference. Bahrain finished with 1-4 record on the last spot with the same situation between three teams.
Bahrain surprised the favorites with 22-13 in the first period and added 24-22 in the second frame. The third quarter was however decisive in the game as Philippines erupted with 38-15 in it to take the lead in the game. They finished the campaign with 26-11 in the last stanza for the final success.
Rodolfo Alejandro paced all the winners with 23 points and Jerie Pingoy (175-G-94) nailed 19. Janhubert Cani (178-PG-95) and Rey Nambatac (179-G-94) followed them with 11 points each in a win. Ali Hassan Shukralla finished the game with 32 points and 12 rebounds in defeat, while Mohammed Buallay (185-F-95) scored 16.

Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul (BSL) is close to sign 28-year old American forward Austin Daye (211-92kg-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Alti Sport) who played last time at Al Manama in Bahrain. He helped them to make it to the final. Daye also played at VL Pesaro (Serie A) in Italian league that season. Al Ahli (Premier League) inked 29-year old forward Mohammed Qurban (187-87). It is actually his comeback to Manama as he played here before. Qurban has played for the last three years at Al Manama (Premier League). He helped them to win the cup. Qurban represented Bahrain at the Gulf Club Championships Semifinals last year. Ostioneros de Guaymas (CIBACOPA) landed 32-year old American forward Travis Garrison (203-107kg-84, college: Maryland). He moved there from Al Bahrain in Bahrain Premier League where he started the season. Garrison also played at Naglis Palangos (NKL) in Lithuanian league that season.
