Bahrain U18- Philippines U18 72:99

Rodolfo Alejandro (180-G-95) leads Philippines over Bahrain at the 22nd FIBA Asia U18 Championship. The winning side improved to 4-1 record however finished only third in the group. Iran and Taiwan took the top places in Group F with the same records due to the better difference. Bahrain finished with 1-4 record on the last spot with the same situation between three teams.
Bahrain surprised the favorites with 22-13 in the first period and added 24-22 in the second frame. The third quarter was however decisive in the game as Philippines erupted with 38-15 in it to take the lead in the game. They finished the campaign with 26-11 in the last stanza for the final success.
Rodolfo Alejandro paced all the winners with 23 points and Jerie Pingoy (175-G-94) nailed 19. Janhubert Cani (178-PG-95) and Rey Nambatac (179-G-94) followed them with 11 points each in a win. Ali Hassan Shukralla finished the game with 32 points and 12 rebounds in defeat, while Mohammed Buallay (185-F-95) scored 16.

Al Ahli (Premier League) added to their roster 28-year old American power forward Malcolm White (205-102kg-88, college: LSU). He already started the season at Goes in Uruguayan LUB league. In 6 games he recorded 12.2ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.0apg and 1.0bpg this season. The last season White played at Qatar Sports Club in Qatari D1 where in 18 games he averaged impressive 18.2ppg, 14.7rpg (#2 in the league), 1.3apg and 1.9bpg. Tenth-ranked Sitra (1-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Al Hala (7-1) in Muharraq on Wednesday. Al Hala managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. Al Rayyan Doha (D1) signed 26-year old American center Marcus Bell (206-102kg-90, college: CS Stanislaus). He already started the season at Sitra Club in Bahrain Premier League. Bell also played earlier that season for Uhud (SBL) in Saudi Arabian league. The other team he played shortly was US Ansar (Division I) in Tunisian league.
