Bahrain registered the first win at the U18 Asia Championship in Ulaanbaatar. They overcame hosting Mongolia in Group C. Mahamed Naser (191-F-97) came up with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The hosts started the game aggressively. Mongolia dominated in the opening quarter posting a 20:10 lead after ten minutes. Bahrain managed to narrow the gap in the second quarter. The visitors got within a single point at the interval 37:38. Bahrain pulled ahead in the third quarter. They fired 30 points to take a 67:54 lead at the final intermission. Mongolia ran out of steam in the fourth term and could not challenge the deficit in the final minutes. Ali Melad (171-F-94) finished with 18 points, while Jasim Abul (167-PG-94) and Mohammed Buallay (185-F-95) accounted for 10 points each for the winners. Likhamjav answered with 21 points for Mongolia. Chinzorig netted 18 points and collected 9 rebounds in defeat.
