Iran celebrated victory in the first leg of WABA U16 Championship. The tournament serves as the qualifying event for U16 Fiba Asia Champonship. The 3rd U16 Fiba Asia Championship will be held in Iran.
Iran dominated in Amman. They posted three victories in as many games played and clinched the top position. Iran are not fighting for the qualification as they automatically advanced into U16 Fiba Asia Championship as hosts. However it did not prevent them from taking the top position. Lebanon made a strong bid for another qualifying ticket. They claimed a crucial 59:50 victory over Jordan on the final day of the tourney to claim the second position at 2-1 record. Syria finished in the third place after losing to Iran 62:67. Jordan finished the first leg winless at 0-3.
