Group E
South Korea U16 Japan U16 93:56

South Korea eased past Japan at the start of the Qualifying Round at the U16 Asia Championship. Jonghyun Lee scored 21 points and grabbed 12 boards to lead Korea.
Japan got the last train to the Qualifying Round but could not match the Korean team. South Korea built a 22-point lead at halftime. Japan stopped the bleeding in the second half but could not threaten the margin till the final buzzer.
Seungwook Choi delivered 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Yuto Aratani replied with 11 points for Japan.

China U16 - Taiwan U16 108:61
Chinese U16 selection recorded the fourth straight win at the Asia Championship in Malaysia. Today they thumped Taiwan at the start of the Qualifying Round in Group E. Taiwan had little chance to stop the impressive Chinese team. China fired 60 points in the first half building a 35-point lead at halftime. The second half turned into simple formalities as China cruised to the victory.
Guo Ailun had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for China. Zhu Xuhang added 18 points for the winners. Wang Jen-Chieh tallied game-high 25 points for Taiwan.

Group F
Iran U16 - Jordan U16 70:51

Iran made another step towards reaching the semifinal stage at the U16 Asia Championship in Malaysia. They rolled past Jordan at the start of the Qualifying Stage of the tournament. Amir Sedighi scored 20 points and pulled down 15 boards to lead Iran on top of Group F.
Iran led right from the start. They earned a 20:12 lead ten minutes into the game. Iran continued to dominate and ensured a 44:21 advantage at halftime. Jordan slowed down their opponents in the second half but could not avoid the defeat.
Soheil Yousefi had 17 points, 7 steals and 5 assists for Iran. Malek Kanaan responded with 20 points for Jordan.

Philippines U16 - Syria U16 71:57
Philippines recorded the first win at the U16 Asia Championship Qualifying Round. They held off Syria in Group F. Jeron Alvin Teng knocked down 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the winners.
The teams were tied at 16 after ten minutes of action. Syria put their noses in front in the second quarter taking a narrow 30:29 lead at halftime. But Philippines surged in charge in this seesaw action heading into the fourth quarter ahead by one 45:44. Philippines scored 26 points in the fourth term and celebrated a confident win at the end.
Roldan Sara accounted for 14 points in the victory. Muhammad Otabachi answered with 20 points and 13 boards for Syria. Aghyad Rahal netted 14 points in the losing case.

Group G
Thailand U16 - India U16 55:52
Thailand celebrated the first win at the second stage of the U16 Asia Championship in Malaysia. They shot down India in Group H. Thailand got to the better start as they grabbed a 16:10 lead after ten minutes. India recovered in the second frame taking a 34:24 lead at halftime. But Thailand found the way to recover in the second half. They stepped on the gas in the fourth term and eked out a difficult win at the end.
Sarun Buranachan scored 18 points to pace Thailand. Udomsak Rattanapansri had 16 points in the winning effort. Ankit Panigrahi responded with 21 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.

Bahrain U16 - Singapore U16 64:58
Bahrain posted the first win in Group G of the Classification stage at the U16 Asia Championship. Ali Ahmed Jamal fired 30 points to pace Bahrain past Singapore.
Singapore scored 20 points in the first term and enjoyed a 5-point lead at the first intermission. But Bahrain shifted the gear in the second quarter and thrashed their opponents in the next two quarters. Bahrain headed into the fourth quarter ahead by 9 points and sealed the deal at the end.
Sayed Hasan Ali notched 16 points for Bahrain. Delvin Goh and Larry Liew answered with 15 points each in defeat.

Group H
Kuwait U16 - Kazakhstan U16 66:63

Kuwait posted the first win at the U16 Asia Championship. They prevailed against Kazakhstan in Group H of the Classification Round of the tournament. Kuwait finished the preliminary round winless but managed to adjust the rhythm in the fourth encounter in Johor Bahru.
Kazakhstan got to the better start. They enjoyed a 22:16 lead after ten minutes of action. Kuwait stopped the bleeding in the second frame and got within 5 at halftime. The teams traded baskets in the third quarter and headed into the fourth stanza with the Kazakh team up by 5 points. However Kuwait came from behind and raced to the victory at the end.
Hussain Shuaib notched 25 points and 6 boards for Kuwait. Abdulrahman Alshammari netted 17 points and collected 7 rebounds for the winners. Alexandr Zhigulin responded with 23 points and 13 boards for Kazakhstan.

Malaysia - Saudi Arabia 84:77
Malaysia opened their U16 Asia Championship Classification Round campaign with a tough win over Saudi Arabia. Shee Weng Loh scored 27 points and pulled down 12 boards to lead the hosts. Saudi Arabia on the other hand suffered the fourth straight defeat at the tournament.
The teams looked well-matched in the starting quarter. Malaysia led by just a single point at the first break 21:20. But the home team limited Saudi Arabia to only 5 points in the second quarter building a 12-point halftime lead. Malaysia exploded with 30 points in the third quarter to keep Saudi Arabia at bay. The Arab team fought bravely in the fourth quarter cutting the deficit but could not erase the deficit.
Hui Kee Tan finished with 16 points for Malaysia. Nassir Abo Jalas answered with 31 points for Saudi Arabia.

Australia celebrate title in Foshan - 4 months ago
FINAL China - Australia 67-91 Australia celebrate Gold in Foshan. They knocked down hosting China in the title game tonight. Luke Travers (197-G-01) provided 22 points and 8 rebounds for the champions. Wani Swaka (198-F-01) tossed in 21 points in the win. China posted a 23:17 lead after ten minutes.
