Stergios Koufos , winner of the last two Qatari League Championships in 2015 and 2016, Finalist of the Gulf Club Championship in 2016, Arab Club Championship winner and Eurobasket Coach of the Year 2015 and 2016 in Qatar, parted ways with Al Rayyan Doha due to the financial problems of the club. After his succesfull spell in Al Rayyan Doha, Coach Koufos is eager to continue his career in Arab region. Koufos also worked for A.G.O Rethymno Aegean, Ilysiakos Athens, AS Apollon Patras in Greece.

Lebanese side Homenetmen claimed the 30th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship, after beating hosting side from Morocco AS Sale 99-98 in the Moroccan city of Sale on Thursday. In a tense game, Homenetmen won the title after a period of extra time that ended 18-17. The four quarters of the match ended 26-15, 17-19, 20-14 and 18-33. Moroccan team AS Sale and Lebanese side Homenetmen booked their tickets to the final of the 30th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship in the Moroccan city of Sale on Tuesday. MUHARRAQ crashed out of title contention last night from the 2017 Arab Clubs Basketball Championship following a disappointing 70-94 quarter-final defeat at the hands of Lebanese side Homenetmen.
