Experienced American Chris Daniels (200-PF-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Satria Muda and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. The 30-year old power forward had a double-double of 17 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Saigon H. (#6, 3-16) 82-68. Satria Muda maintains the 2nd position in ASEAN League . They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Satria Muda will need more victories to improve their 15-6 record. Daniels turned to be Satria Muda's top player in his first season with the team. University of Georgia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Daniels is in league's top in points (7th best: 14.4ppg), rebounds (5th best: 11.9rpg), assists (7th best: 3.0apg) and averages solid 1.9bpg,2.7spg and 50.4% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old American power forward Christien Charles (216-F/C-81) of Thailand S.. Charles impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Thailand S. lost that game 69-76 to the higher-ranked Petron Blaze (#1, 18-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Thailand S. still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-14 record. Charles is one of the most experienced players at Thailand S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.9ppg (#2). He also registered 14.4 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was another Thailand S.'s star - American Christien Charles (216-F/C-81). Charles scored 28 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Charles' great performance Thailand S. lost 61-78 to #1 ranked Petron Blaze. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Thailand S. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Charles could try to bring Thailand S.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Charles has individually a great season in ASEAN League. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.9ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 14.4rpg (2nd best). He also has 4.2bpg and FGP: 52.7%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Mike Burtscher (198-F-85) of Petron Blaze - 16 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Chris Daniels (200-PF-82) of Satria Muda - 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists 6. David Palmer (206-F/C-86) of Saigon H. - 18 points and 18 rebounds 7. Justin Williams (206-F/C-84) of Petron Blaze - 10 points and 14 rebounds 8. Darrius Brannon (206-F-83) of Thailand S. - 10 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Pauliasi Taulava (208-C-73) of Petron Blaze - 15 points and 12 rebounds 10. John Smith (188-G-86) of Satria Muda - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
